It has now been one month since Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx was rushed into hospital following a "medical complication" with his heartbroken family now "preparing for the worst" as doctors continue to run more tests.
The 55-year-old was hospitalised while working on his upcoming Netflix feature, Back In Action, alongside Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close as his celeb pals across the showbiz sector have continued to keep him in their prayers.
Just last week, the Django actor's condition was said to have improved, however, sources have said that doctors are doing more tests before allowing him to leave and have advised him to "keep his stress level down".
The source told People: "Jamie is stable and not in a life-threatening situation now. [Doctors] are doing more tests and want to be completely sure that he will be okay before allowing him to leave the hospital."
But very little details have been given on what happened to the Hollywood legend, following the news of his health problems confirmed on social media by his daughter Corinne Foxx.
“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” Corinne said in a statement posted on social media on April 12.
“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” she added. “The family asks for privacy during this time.”
So what do we know about his illness and recovery?
Following the news from his family, Bad Boys star Martin Lawrence told Extra that Jamie was “doing better” later that month on April 20.
“My prayers go out for him every night and just wishing the best for him, one of the best that we got in Hollywood. Not only one of the best entertainers, but a good person,” he added.
Jamie himself broke his silence on being rushed to hospital on May 3 the following month as he thanked his fans for all their support. The same day, a source close to the actor told TMZ that he “needs all the prayers and well-wishes his fans can muster”.
The dad-of-two also thanked Nick Cannon for stepping in to replace him as host of the Fox game show, Beat Shazam.
“Everybody at FOX Entertainment wishes Jamie well as he continues his recovery, and we greatly appreciate Nick’s willingness to jump in and help this summer,” the show announced on Instagram.
“Man, I’m praying. I literally have been saying prayers out loud,” Nick wrote as he spoke of his pal Jamie.
The following day on May 4, comedian Kevin Hart also suggested that Jamie was on the road to recovery, adding: “The dope thing is that he’s getting better in his situation, and everybody’s prayers, everybody’s love, energy, all that stuff is seen and felt [by him]. In this case, you just want the guy to get out of the situation and get back home.”
Kevin continued in the chat with hosts Logan Paul and Mike Majlak on their Impaulsive podcast: “I don’t know the details – or the exact details – as to what’s going on, but to my knowledge, there’s a lot of progression and a world of better.”
And most recently on May 9, his daughter Corinne shared an advert she stars in alongside her father for Intel on social media as a string of celeb pals have wished the actor a speedy recovery on Instagram, reports the Independent.
Meanwhile, Jamie had been in the USA shooting for his forthcoming Netflix film alongside Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close when he took unwell as body doubles have been drafted in to work on the shooting in his absence.
The film, Back in Action, has been billed as an action-comedy, although any details about the plot have been kept tightly under wraps. Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson also star.
Reflecting on his career, Jamie recently said he doesn’t consider himself “famous”. “I’ve always been the guy, my whole career, that people feel a familiarity to, not really a ‘celebrity’,” he told The Rake.
“It’s important to keep good people around that always keep it real with you. My friends that I met when I first came to Los Angeles 30 years ago are still my same friends. We all still kick it and laugh.”
